Abstract: Research on photocatalytic overall water splitting has attracted wide attention. Recently, a work has systematically discussed the challenges for photocatalytic overall water splitting in terms of thermodynamics, kinetics, dissolved oxygen, and backward and side reactions. The critical analysis of the reaction process and reaction environment in the work contributes to an in-depth understanding of photocatalytic overall water splitting.
