    Characteristics of BF Burden-flow at Material Gate of Bell-less Top

    The influence of material gate position in bur- den-flow rate has been studied by simulating exper- iments.A mathematical model describing the char- acteristics of burden-flow at the material gate of bell-less top blast furnace(BF)is established in this paper,in an attempt to solve the problems in bur- den distribution,especially to eliminate the over- lapping or disconnection of the burden at the be- ginning and at the end of a ring,which plays a quite important role in the blast furnace operation.

    Weakening Mechanisms of Platelike σ Phase on Ni-base Superalloys

    On the basis of an investigation on σ phase in Ni-base cast superalloy K24 and the results about σ phase in other Ni-base superalloys,an embrittl- ing mechanism and a softening mechanism,by which platelike σ phase weakens the Ni-base superalloys,have been proposed.It is considered that the platelike morphology and the habit precipi- tation along{111}of σ phase are necessary condi- tions for both mechanisms.The embrittling mecha- nism is dominant at room temperature and high strain rate,and the softening mechanism is domi- nant at high temperature and low strain rate.Ac- cording to the idea of the softening mechanism and the analyses of σ phase and alloy compositions,it is considered that Nb,Mo and W in the alloys may be resistant to the detrimental effect of σ phase on the stress-rupture properties of the alloys.

    Influence of Widening on the Rolling and Recrystallization Texture in High Purity Al with Initial Cube Texture

    The influence of widening and initial Cube tex- ture on formation of rolling and recrystallization texture was investigated in high purity Al.With in- creasing widening the initial Cube texture has ro- tated more around rolling direction(RD)and less around transverse direction(TD).Therefore,more orientations rotate in x-fibre between G{110} <001>and B{110}<112>positions,and less in S{124}<211>texture component,which shows the widening plays an important role in the forma- tion of S component during rolling.The relation- ship between rolling and recrystallization texture components is discussed.Though the transition band predicted by Dillamore and Katoh is always formed during rolling,the most important factor in- fluencing recrystallization texture should be the ori- ented growth according to the changes of volume fractions and scatter widths of texture components with widening.

    Based on thermodynamic calculation,oper- ating data and experiments,Si transmission in B.F. is described in this paper.The Si in hot metal is con- trolled by both reduction and reoxidation.Equilib- rium calculation gives a tapping value and the pro- file of Si content of the hot metal in B.F.The first important factor to control Si content is reaction temperature.The coke reactivity and solution loss are more sensitive to in-situ coke reduction and Si content.

    In this paper,the dislocation distribution struc- ture in deformed metal is discussed.The flow stress of material for the heterogeneous dislocation distri- bution which tends to the flow stress for the homo- geneous dislocation distribution in the limiting case is derived.The causes and the effects of the long range internal stresses are discussed.The total deformation energy of material system is obtained and the trend of evolution of dislocation distribu- tion in deformed metals is discussed simultaneously. No micromechanisms of dislocations are involved in the discussion,therefore the theory developed in this paper is universal.

    The acoustic emission(AE)characteristics from the fatigue crack propagation in SM50B-Zc steel were strongly affected by the environment me- dium.The AE feature from the fatigue process both in air and in 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution mani- fested a periodicity which indicated the fatigue ex- tension was discontinuous.The fatigue striation and secondary cracking were the main AE sources during the fatigue crack growth in air.In contrast, AE during the fatigue crack propagation in 3.5% NaCl solution was released from the intergranular fracture and quasicleavage cracking.

    The effect of compressive deformation tested above the M_s temperature on the martensite morphology in Fe-Ni-C alloys has been studied.In the Fe-30Ni-0.12C alloy,the M_s temperature is -50℃ The cylindrical specimens were compressively deformed at -40℃.The strain rates were 10,20,30 and 40%.X-ray analysis and metallographic examination showed that no strain-induced martensite was found.After quench- ing to -53℃,some thin plates and unusual morphologies of lenticular martensites with bent and/or broken mid-ribs were observed.In the Fe-30Ni-0.34C alloy,the M_s temperature is -120℃.Compressive deformation with different strain rates were carried out at room temperature. After quenching to the liquid nitrogen temperature, some bent thin plate matensites(unbroken)occur- red.The transformed twins in bent plate were also bent and nearly parallel to the γ-α'interfaces. Orientation relationship between austenite and bent martensite has been examined by means of trans- mission electron microscope.It was proved that these unusual morphologies are inherent in the compressive pre-deformed austenite.

    To bring the excellent abrasion-resistant po- tential of carbide into full play,composites of cast tungsten carbide(CTC)grains based on mainly plate martensite and high Cr,W white cast iron are made on substrate of grey iron by cast-in-place hardfacing process.Results of high-stress two-body and three-body abrasion show that:(1) Base alloy microstructures have overwhelming dominating effects on abrasion resistances of the composites in two-body and especially three-body abrasion systems.(2)All composites have very ex- cellent abrasion-resistances which increase drasti- cally with the increase of CTC grain size.In case of the same CTC grain size,composite based on martensite white cast iron is much more wear-resistant than that based on mainly plate martensite although the volume fraction of CTC grains in the latter is considerably larger than that in the former.In three-body abrasion system,load has little effect on wear rate for composites based on martensite white cast iron,but wear rate of conventional wear-resistant materials increases linearly in a very steep slope as the nominal stress increases.
