Abstract: The effect of corrosion process on facilitating local plastic deformation for α-Ti in methanol has been investigated with the micro-multiplicative moire interferometer technique. The size of plastic zone and the plastic strain ahead of loaded notch have been measured. The results show that the anodic dissolution, or corrosion process itself can enhance the plastic zone and the plastic strain ahead of a loaded notch during stress corrosion of α-Ti in methanol solution
