Abstract: The tensile-shear failure zone of the laminated damping steel sheet was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It is found that there exists cohesive failure in polymer sandwich and sub-boundary failure between the steel sheet and the polymer. The sub-boundary layer is dominantly polymer material. The tensile-shear failure of the laminated damping steel sheet is a process during which the crazes form, grow up and merge into cracks.
