Abstract: The influence of carbon and phosphorus on the solidification microstructure of a Cr-Ni-Mn-N austenitic steel was studied. The button specimens were prepared by vacuum induction melting and magnetic convection. The experimental results show that the increase of C or P concentration in the steel can change the solidification modes of Cr-Ni-Mn-N austenitic steels and has a significant effect on the morphology of the dendrites. The content of delta -ferrite in the microstructure reduces with increasing the concentration of C or P in the steel, there is a gradient of the content of delta -ferrite formed from surface through the center of the specimens.
